Ruby appears to be okay, and we're none the worse for wear. Just angry. I'm sure it was kids out being kids. Teenagers never change.

It could be worse-- they could have burned my house down, right?
I had this happen to my Volvo when I lived in Houston. You feel very violated when it happens.

No, there didn't seem to be much point. It's not like anyone is ever going to find out who did it.

And in the interests of full disclosure, I should probably also say that my Ford Exploder was hit, as well as my beloved 89 Dodge Dakota Convertible. Luckily both of them can go through the car wash.

Thank you for all of the commiseration and bad puns! I knew you guys would get it!

Just kids being kids. Fully understandable especially if you have a kid or kids in the same age group. Still, I would of blew my top when I saw it if it happened to me. You're right, they could of set Ruby on fire if they were the little hoodlums some make them out to be. The old some of us get, the more we forget some of the things we did. Only recently since my introduction to Facebook and people tracking me down have some reminded me of some things that happened. Good thing is, we're not like the tomorrow's kids. Their worry will be if someone ever digs up that body 20 years after high school....

A sad, sad statement on parenting if you ask me.

Sad but true unfortunately. Of course if you keep your kid at home locked in a closet then this would prevent them from doing things like this while they are a kid. That's the makings of an adult serial killer once they get of age.

I can say I'm one of the lucky ones since I was able to teach my kid right from wrong, and damaging someone else's property is wrong.

That being said, egging and toilet papering is one of those things that NORMAL kids do. Then there is the other types of abnormal kids. The ones who DO know right from wrong and don't fall into peer pressure resulting in egging and TP'ing people's houses.

The other type of abnormal is those kids who try to be the little gang bangers and get ahold of guns and either try to shoot their way or burn their way into notoriety. Nut cases...

Well, 24 hours and 2 baths later, it does appear that there's some permanent damage to my sweet baby. Naturally, I'm pretty devastated, since she's only 4 months old and only has 2300 miles on her.

There are a few tiny chips in the plastic on her front panel, I'm presuming from where somebody smashed an egg at short range (they apparently came up onto my property to get her that well egged), streaks on the back bumper where egg ran down it (luckily these seem to vanish when she's dry-- but they're definitely in the finish and not leftover egg) and some permanent discoloration to the top.

I'm ordering the stuff to treat the top, and I hope that will make the discoloration less obvious. And I suppose the front panel could be replaced, although for three chips that collectively are probably 1/8" square it's not worth it.

Right now, though, I'm just trying to remind myself that it could have been so much worse. And that since I live in Texas and have heated seats and a good heater, the only time really that I put the top up is when it's actually raining.

I think that I'm going to go now and have a good cry. It's been a long time since I've felt this horrible.
