I am in no way defending these idiots, but to lump every teenager together like that would be a mistake. It is only the idiots people tend to notice, not the kids who are actually going to make a difference in our world. People claim the generation of adolescents now are dumber than ever yet the statistics completely disprove that. There were kids just like them when you were that age too, don't try to pretend otherwise. Sorry to hear you had that experience though. Next time get a license plate and file a police report so they stay off the road.

Unfortunately, all points are correct! Kids today (in general) have no respect for anyone or anything other than themselves (brought on by MY generation "giving" them everything and NOT have to work for it!). There are still many "good" kids out there and hopefully they will make a difference in the future . The older I get, the more I'm glad I'm on the "downhill" slope of life !
There are a lot of great kids out there and there are some bad ones also. 40 years ago when I was 16 it wasn't any different, I can remember being harassed by punks both rich and poor. As parents we just have to do our best to teach them right from wrong and pray it sticks. I have one who is a high school dropout and one who is a national merit scholar and they were both raised the same. Luckily the dropout still graduated on time and though he has stumbled in life he is now an excellent mechanic at 26 years of age; much luckier than several of his friends you have died for one reason or another. I guess natural selection is at work.
Yea, there is something new going on in our culture with parents giving kids all they never had and it ain't turning out good for the kids. Now I know we weren't all angels in the outfield but something is changing. Case in point: politeness is hard to find ANYWHERE.
The kids could have been driving an A8 with a W-12 450 hp with 428 lb-ft of torque. If I were raising a horrible child who was given everything and appreciated nothing, I'd make sure he only got the best.
If it WAS the W-12, he had four times as many cylinders, twice as many doors, six and a half times as much HP and torque. I guess, being the tough cool guy he was, he picked a fight he had a chance of winning.
Lately I've calmed down - years (or maybe about 2 years ago) ago I would of reacted in a less than desirable way.
Now I've got the police dept for all the little towns and sheriff's dept dispatch # preprogrammed on my # phone. I now let them go ahead and get in front of me - grab that plate # and if they continue their antics that endanger myself and others I just ring it in. Give the police an excellent description of the car, what they did and plate #. Try to let the law take it from there, last thing the punks parents would want is me to take the law into my own hands. Lot of woods out here for those kids to get "lost" in. ;)
This past winter I was driving home (in my mini-van, pre-smart) from a gig in downtown Austin when I saw a driver at a red light doing cocaine. I called the cops even though I was driving and typically don't talk on the phone in downtown traffic. People do some dumb sheet in their cars.

I am sure the older people when you were younger said the same thing and they would have been wrong too. Just as the news only reports the bad, you only see what makes you angry. I myself am a young person (21) and find that many older people are much worse than the youth because at least the bad youth have a chance at changing. I am sure you aren't the only person to think the way you do, but that doesn't make it any more right.
For you to say it is hard to find any politeness is either hyperbole, idiocy, or laziness. Your negative outlook on life is what brings everyone else down, not the occasional idiot who has no respect, regardless of their age.

Reason: grammar mistake
Dan - Too bad you didn't think to get the plate number and report the incident to police. Chances are the little tikes wouldn't be driving daddy's A8 anymore if you had.
