Driver suffers minor injuries after car overturns in Liverpool

A DRIVER escaped with cuts and bruises after his car collided with another and landed on its roof.
The accident happened in the city centre just after 6.30pm at The Strand / James Street junction.
Police said a Hyundai car had gone through the lights on the junction and collided with a SMART coupe turning from Mann Island.
The impact of the collision saw the SMART car land upside down and traffic lights were also damaged.
But a Merseyside police spokesman said the 38-year-old man driving the SMART and a 21-year-old driving the Hyundai escaped with “slight injuries.”
He added: “Both have said it was there right of way. Statements have been taken and our investigations are on going.”
Access was closed to St James Street for around hour while the cars were removed and the traffic light repaired but otherwise The Strand functioned as normal.
