Iceberg,

Look under the "video's" section of this forum. On page 3 you will find "two big guys get in, really..." a posting by Mr. Cash.

The guys in the video are taller and bigger than you describe yourself. They are able to get in very easily and are shown laughing at the end of the video because they both fit inside the Smart.

Fit maybe, comfortable? I doubt it...
They certainly exceed the weight limit.

Not to mention what would happen to the braking and acceleration performance when you add over 35% of the empty vehicle weight to the mix of a somewhat underpowered vehicle. Let's hope the bus driver behind you is patient.

if you add 3 inches of height, and 30 lbs of weight, you will still be comforable in the smart, and unlikely you could even squeeze into the honda.

unless the honda civic has done a major interior expansion in recent years.

the usa 2008 smart is taller, and has more head room, than a new 2007 lincoln towncar.

the smart also has surprisingly high seating, not requiring an entry/exit squat.

you have no idea how much room is inside the smart, until you sit inside, and push the seat all the way back, and lean the seat back all the way back.

it is contrary to any glove tube fit 2 seater americans have experienced.

and you may be passing on a once in a lifetime opportunity,

to get a car significantly more popularly favorite than the 2008 motor trend $50,000 cadillac cts car of the year, than the 2008 playboy audi $140,000 car of the year, than the playboy 2008 $140,000 maserati car of the year finalist,

as shown here.

and better mpg than any usa all-gas car.

im sure the honda civic is ok, but, it didn't make the playboy 2008 favorite finalists list this year,

... where smart not only made the list, but is winning as the favorite, even over two $140,000 finalists, one of those $140,000 cars chosen as the playboy 2008 car of the year.

and the 2008 usa smart is beating them 'all'.

its interesting.

Of which vehicle I'd rather be in to attempt escaping being squished by a much larger vehicle in an accident, I'd surely pick the Smart over the Civic due to it's Tridium cell. The Civic, although fairing well in it's crash worthiness, is NOT nearly as robust as the Tridium cell. I can almost guarrantee that if you drove a Civic into a baracade at 70 mph like they did the Smart, the engine along with everything behind it would be in the back seat or even the trunk.

Although, to be fair, you'd be dead in either case.

Sure, you would.
The human body cannot stand 70-0 without coming apart, literally.

Walking ghosts

How many ghosts (Race car drivers) are walking around letting us think they are alive.

Gortok you are incorrect

Many people are killed in 70 to 0 accidents but not all.

Smart belts initally tighten on rapid deceleration and immediately ease to help prevent injury.

Race driver's also have VERY different seat belts and roll cages.
The smart may have a cage, of sorts, but it is nowhere near as strong as those employed by real race cars.
The negative G's of a 70-0 stop (read concrete wall) are not survivable. If you roll, bounce, glance off a few guardrails...sure you may survive...
