Intrusion of the passenger space is what really can kill or mames you. That 70 mpg into the concrete wall might not be survivable (see YouTube video posted everywhere). But it wasn't due to something crushing you like a bug.
Sadly, we will find out the truth in the coming months and years. I don't recall any horror stories coming out of Canada or Europe?

I drove a Smart for about 30 minutes last fall on a test drive. I'm 6'1 and well over what I should weigh but because of the upright driving position, there was plenty of room in the Smart. Mine is replacing a Goldwing and the luggage compartment is much larger than the saddlebags and trunk on the wing.
