Scangauge setup?

I get the engine, unit, and fuel screens but am a bit confused. The speed screen is only needed if you have something not factory????????? I'm trying to figure out if out of the box it has to be adjusted. I'm thinking if I understand right with factory tires and hardware the car is sending the speed to the scangauge and you only have to adjust it in case you changed something in car that would cause the speed send to scangauge to be off. I'm getting my unit by UPS on Friday and that's the only setting I'm iffy about. Please any advice about setting up would be welcome.

I didn't have to make any adjustments for the MPH readout. I believe it is the same as what goes to the speedometer.

If you're running stock tires and wheels you don't need to change the mph settings. Do understand that once at highway speeds, your scanguage will not match your speedo... the speedo is not correct over 45mph... The scanguage will show your true speed.

I got it hooked up in place I want it in the car. Please see below the settings I have put in and tell me if anything needs to be changed. (I know some of what I'm typing in self explanatory but I like being thoorugh)

ENGINE
-------
1 Liter

SPEED
------
0

FUEL
-----
Type: Gas
Tank size: 8 Gallon (should I select 9 since car has 8.72 gallon tank????)
Cutoff: 24 (this is default value and I don't know if it needs changing for smart????????)

UNITS
------
Miles
Fahrenheit
Gallons
PSI

I would like to know what LED color combination I need in order the match the smarts orange glow. I think the laster poster mentioned someone should tell me.

On your tank size use 8 gallons - that way you'll never run out of fuel.
Not sure what the cutoff is used for - ? Everything else looks ok. Color? I wasn't ever able to get the orange that matched the dash display - just opted for a brilliant green that is readable in daylight.

Don't worry about the cutoff... and yes leave it at 8 gallons on the gas tank

Quoted by Randy Zimmer:

"I played with mine last night and found "0 blue" "3 red" and "1 green" to be a pretty close match to full bright smart color."

MFoster: red 3, green 1, blue 0 or RGB 310

I completely started the setup process again. I've checked my ScanGauge and it has version 3.16 firmware on it (FYI). I cleared my device back to factory defaults. I found in display settings the color section and set the color to that orangish red preset color which is pretty close to the smarts. The settings below are what I am using in my ScanGauge II and I left out the sections I didn't touch that needed no changes.

ENGINE

1 liter

FUEL

Type:

Gas

Tank size:
Quote:
If the size in the manual is not in whole units, use the next lower value. For instance, if the capacity is 17.5 Gallons, use 17 Gallons. It is better indicate less fuel remaining, than really is.
I set the size of my tank to 8 gallons based of manual recommedations.

Cutoff:
Quote:
The default is right for most vehicles, but it can be adjusted by pressing the upper left or right button. The setting is not critical, but is best if about 4 above the no-throttle TPS value. If set to "0" it disables this method of fuel cutoff sensing.
I drove my car around and got on some really big hills and let off gas and let her coast down and my TPS value with AC on stayed at 16 and with AC off dropped to 14. I have done as the manual says and I set my cutoff to 18 since my lowest was 14. The PDF manual on manufacturers website doesn't mention the cutoff feature but the paper manual does (finally RTFM).

Did you play with the X-Gauge feature yet? I keep my Tank Average on the main screen (TAV is what I input on my screen)

MPG Air Intake
TAV WT

That's my preferences I run; lately I've traded the MPH for the Air Intake. Your preferences may vary as well as everyone else's.
