That's my preferences I run; lately I've traded the MPH for the Air Intake. Your preferences may vary as well as everyone else's.
No I hadn't got that far I just got the thing today. What all can you do with the "X-Gauge".

I just did a search and here is pdf talking about tracking horsepower.

I set my gauge at 9 gallons. I keep in mind that it's set a bit too high. Nevertheless, it's always a bit off when I try to gauge how much fuel remains.

The good news is that I've never run out of gas in 125 fillups despite taking it to 0.0 gallons a few times.

When I do the fillup adjustment, I leave it at about +17% or so.

The manual recommend to go to next size down if the presets don't match the car. It's of course to each his own and it's not like we user the ScanGauge to see we need gas.

I wouldn't really question uni's tactics - he's a top lifetime mileage winner among the Smarts and has the most tanks out of anyone. Mine equal his but that is 2 cars put together.

I see you researched on the X-Gauge. It's pretty neat but I like being able to bring the tank average to the main screen. Something they should of done a default on in the first place.

PS - I keep my settings pessimistic so it always makes me strive to get better mileage.

I'm lost where does it say that. I'm not saying you're wrong just what page of the manual so I can look it over closer. I have attached link to PDF of manual.

Wouldn't be an issue digger.... It's a 10 gal tank (yes we filled one up with water that had been removed from a car) so setting it to 8 or 9 will ensure that you won't run out of gas.

In order for the
TANK information to be useful, you must set the size of
the fuel tank using
MORE>SETUP>FUEL>TANK SIZE. When you
fill-up, you must use
HOME>MORE>FILLUP>DONE to indicate the
vehicle tank has been refilled. It is also necessary to fill the tank to make
the
TO EMPTY information correct.
The estimate of distance and time to empty is based on the economy that
has been obtained so far on this tank of fuel. Right after refueling, these
values will change fairly quickly. As more of the fuel has been burned
from the tank the readings will stabilize.
It is possible to see the distance and time to empty increase as you drive.
The distance can increase as you drive at a steady fuel efficient speed.
This causes the fuel economy for the tank to rise and applying this
higher fuel efficiency to the fuel remaining in the tank can actually result
in more remaining distance. If you drive slower than the average speed
of the tank so far, the time to empty can increase.
You should refill the vehicle when there is above 50 miles/km
remaining. Pushing below 50 could result in running out of fuel.
Pressing the lower left button again will return the selection to the

CURRENT
trip. Continuing to press it will cycle the trips from one to
the next.
TANK shows different types of information in some cases from
the other trips.
TANK substitutes TO EMPTY data in place of

MAXIMUM
data.

That's strange the manual says tank size is 8.72 gallons and that amount includes the reserve.

Appears to be a warning about relying on the ScanGauge to track your fuel. I wouldn't do that anyway I would be going by what the car says. I always fill up when I drop down to .5 to .9 on screen.
