Seat Covers

Has anybody located a source for seat covers for the smart, does the dealer have them or some third party?

I just checked Wet Okole and they don't have them yet. I will be calling them to find out when they will start making them. Had a set in my old Insight and loved them. BUT....they are expensive.

I have a set designed by a high-end yacht upholstery guy. It doesn't interfere with the side airbag. We're trying to figure out material to use. Since he has the pattern, he said he can make it for others. Any interests?

Sheepskin seat covers are nice too. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

We can't see if they cover the airbags or not. I hope they don't. I couldn't find the Smart option on their website. Is this a custom one or a universal bucket seat replacement?

blackbeagle, they have the slits for the airbags and the seat belt bracket on the side. these were custom. I sent them the model and make and explained that I had seen their work in this forum and knew they had made them in the past. They fit the seats like a glove and their choice of colors, color variation and little embroidered doodads (none of which I purchased) were impressive. Heads up though, they were expensive. $269

Wet Okole seat covers

Here are pictures of another design and some cost information:

Received from Boris Tilim:

Just got the patterns done with Wet Okole and have the first set on my car. They look great and fit great! Everyone that has looked them over cannot believe they are covers. I had my demo ones done in black with yellow piping to match the color of the car. I also added a lumber support on the drivers side (works great!) and back zippered pockets to both of the seats.
We have made them to work with the airbags in the seats.
The price on the covers are $259.99 for the pair. You have some options on it:
Lumbar support: $49.00
Full piping: $40.00
1/2 piping: $30.00
Pockets: $100 each seat
Additional chemicals to protect the seats:
UV protectant spray: $10.00
Shampoo: $9.00
Odor Eliminator:$10.00

Shipping: $25
I will discount the entire order by 10% as promised to the members of this forum. Please let me know If I can give you any other info...

I think I would still be a little concerned about the airbag issue. Slits are probably ok if deployment were straight out the side. But I imagine that for these to be effective, the cover on the side guides the bag toward the front of the vehicle. Seems to me that the slit would constrain this movement and either delay or contain the deployment to the point of being ineffective.
