About how much is a good (one color) paint job for a smart cost?

I'm a D.I.Y. kinda guy so I'll have the price of the paint. Should be around $190 for paint & basic supplies. I may use my uncle's paint booth or I may use the nearby military base paint booth ($35). I'm leaning towards the latter as it has a better filtration system though the last car/truck (ElCamino) I shot there I had a dufus walk in and tromp through the water on the floor and it splashed up on the job. The military normally frowns on beating the heck out of someone so I counted to about 10,000 then just let it go.

If you have painted panels already you're halfway there. The hard part is choosing a color that hasn't already been done on a 451.

Suggestion for a local event -- a panel removal/install workshop led by someone who's done it and knows the tricks and pitfalls.

I have to wonder if there are any licensing issues involved in changing your colors? My car's license is linked to a particular color of car, as well as make/model/year.

I mean, could you get a ticket, change your panels, and go to court on the grounds the ticket describes a different car? At least until the courts begin to catch on that Smarts are more modular than most cars.
