Singing the south-of-the-border warranty blues

The US-version will have a 24-month warranty. The Canadian-version of the same car will have a 48-month warranty.

Is there a worse car warranty in the United States??? What an embarrassment. I guess half a warranty is better than none. Sheesh!

While I am not crazy about the warrenty either, in fairness the Canadian smart does cost a fair amount more. One way or the other you end up paying for the warrenty. In this case, we have the option whether to pony up for the extra two years that they are already factoring into the Canadian car's price.

Right-o! I plan on keeping mine awhile so I'll be looking into that. Has anyone seen the price on the warranty extensions?

Not anyone who is talking about it. Official word is "ask your dealer, opening in 2008."
