Smart 2.0 Check Up (cost, or lack thereof)

I just received a form letter from smart USA, dated March 11, announcing the smart USA First Anniversary Check Up. They also call it the "smart 2.0 Check Up". They say they will "upgrade" 2008 transmissions to 2009 operating mode. I just have to contact my dealer and they will handle the rest. No mention in the letter as to whether there is a cost (of course there is). They do call it a celebration and aren't there give-aways associated with celebrations? NAH!!! I'm just wondering how much it's gonna cost me.

Upgrade should be free. They want all smarts on the same level.
Makes servicing simpler.

It's not going to cost you a single penny.

All Ball is at the Englewood smart centre right now having the 2.0 update performed, as well as a a few other warranty items. Depending upon your car and its equipment, you'll be getting more than just the transmission software upgrade. These can include:

1. Transmission Update
2. Replacing VECI label
3. New Owner's Manual with Corrections
4. Addendum Card for Owner info change
5. Transmission Operation Explanation Card
6. 42 amp battery to 61 amp battery if the car was equipped with the factory Anti Theft Alarm
7. 2008 Model Shifter greasing
8. 2008 VIN Label Change to make more readable.
9. 2009 Model contact bridge installation for Comfort Package equipped cars.

Free except for the 600 mile trip, adding 9% to my odometer and probably missing a day of work. Ok, I'll stop whining.
I haven't received a letter yet. Did I read somewhere that the upgrades must be performed at the center where you took delivery? I hope I was imagining that.

From what I understand you can choose any smart center but just have to calll
ahead so the vin stickers etc can be sent to the center before you arrive.

Just got mine done, a hour ago. Free!!! New Operators manuel, Swifts a lot little smoother now. Almost, like a automatic. New vin stickers. Shifts with paddles in drive. Back to drive by holding right paddle down 2 sec. Operators manuel has more info, in it now.
