smart adding accessories to my configuration after the fact.

I configured my fortwo on December 26th 2008 and got email confirmation with link I could go to to print configuration. I bookmarked the link and printed it out which went all fine and good. I ordered my car without fog lights now I just happened to look up my configuration and it has fog lights on configuration page I bookmarked. I went back and looked at my configuration printout and I was right I hadn't ordered them. I'm a bit confused now about what is going on and wonder if this is way smart to make more money by adding accesories people didn't order and surprise them with it at delivery. I'm calling smart tomorrow mourning but has this ever ever happened to anyone before?????!??!!?!

Comfort package will start to include foggies... According to another thread today, rain and light sensors will be discontinued.

I didn't order the confort package so this has nothing to do with issue. I had fog lights added on as a standalone option after the fact after I had configured (done on December 26th) sometime in the last few days. I ordered premium stereo, DRL, security, and electric power stearing on my Passion and have proof of that on my printout from configuration confirmation email. It's just the principal of the thing if I wanted fog lights I would have ordered them, I don't need smart forcing them down my throat. My DDE is Feburary 2009 to April 2009 so there is slight chance my car has gone in to production with this wrong information.

This would be your answer Most of your add ons are in the comfort package. Maybe you can't get all items now on a one on one individually. Has the price of the car also changed?

smart USA would like to announce a change to the “Comfort Package” option on the 2009 smart fortwo passion coupe and passion cabriolet models. Beginning with March 2009 production models, the optional “Comfort Package” will include electronic power steering, heated leather seats and fog lamps. The fog lamps will replace the rain/light sensor and auto-off headlamps with exit delay, which will no longer be available.
If you have received this letter it is because you are a reservation holder who ordered the optional “Comfort Package” on your passion coupe or passion cabriolet scheduled for or after March production. Therefore, you are scheduled to receive fog lamps as part of the “Comfort Package”. There will be no change to the cost of the “Comfort Package”. If you configured your reservation with both the “Comfort Package” and fog lamps as separate options, there will now be no cost for the fog lamps.
Should you have any questions about the change to the “Comfort Package” option for the 2009 smart fortwo passion coupe and passion cabriolet models, please contact your local dealer or smart USA Customer Care by email or at 1.800.smart.USA (762.7887).
Sincerely,
The smart USA Team

Yes a similar thing happened to me as well, I wanted the upgraded radio and the alarm and for some reason I also got power steering and seat heaters with that??? I didnt order leather so I really do not need seat heaters in California and I didnt want the $400 power steering. No big deal, now I wich they would have just thrown in the leather because with these extras that were added on I could have just got the comfort package for few hundred more!

When I went to pick up my car, the total was higher than expected. After reviewing the window sticker, the additional charge was for power steering, which I hadn't ordered. Well, it was either take the car as is, or wait for another....yeah, right!
When I got home, I sent the dealer an email link to my configuration page, and a couple of weeks later I received a check for the difference from Smart USA.

Guys I will repeat myself again. I do not have confort package ordered on my car and under just the fog light option got added to my configuration. The total cost of the car went up slightly which clued me in something was wrong. I'm calling smart right now as we speak to find out what the heck is going on with my order. I know it's just 110 bucks but I don't need fog lights.

UPDATE: I called smart and they don't see fog lights on my config on their end. I have already cleared my cache and cookies but it still shows up fog lights. I bet my problem has something to do with the changes they made to the configurator website due to fog light change. I'm glad I confirmed my order into smart itself doesn't have fog lights and this sounds like a website glitch.

After you configured did your DDE change? I was invited to configure last week and was told my window would be 90 days for delivery but my DDE still says Jan. - March 2010. Do you understand how this works? I just don't know about this DDE.

Mine has changed only once since I configured on 12/26/08 and bumped up by only 1 month which was nice.
