smart alarm problem

Has anyone had trouble with the alarm going off with no obvious reason? I would appreciate any ideas. It has happened on two occasions. I've had the car since February. thanks, Pat

It seems that it's most often a defective motion sensor. The dealer can usually check it out and fix it pretty quickly. Meanwhile, just use the tow button as you have been doing. The rest of the alarm is still functioning, you've only turned off the motion sensors.

Yep, I had the problem a month after I got it. Went off when you just looked at it... Microwave motion sensor was faulty.
after the dealer ordered the part, it was in and out in less than an hour.

I have noticed that the alarm tends to go off when it is very windy. I will notify my dealer and get it checked when I get my 10k service

We had never had a car alarm before and were in for quite a surprise the first time we took the car on a ferry. I went down to the car deck the first time they announced the car on the ferry intercom. I unlocked the car, but didn't unlock the passenger side. A few minutes later they asked the driver of the "not so smart car" to return to the car deck. I spent several minutes pouring over the owner's manual until I found the note about turning off the sensor with the switch in the dash when on a ferry boat. Oh well, at least I didn't know anyone on board except my wife....
