Smart Car durability

Pardon if this question has been asked before, but do we have any European stats on how long Smart Cars are projected to last, assuming good maintenance and driving? Are they 100k cars or is that optimistic?

Michael

Guess we have to wait and see. There is already someone with over 30k miles on theirs in one year. And they say it drives just fine. I know of a guy in England that had his for at least 7 years and over 150k miles and still ran like a friggin go kart.

With absolutely no foundation, I believe that 100,000 miles are easily obtainable on the Mitsubishi motor.
With the high quality synthetic oil available and the recommended oil change intervals, the engine should hold up. By abiding by the book- antifreeze, airfilters, belts, etc, change out will have be done too.
Driving habits obviously will influence the longevity too.
As for the tranny and other items of consequence, that remains to be seen.
This is my belief and I hope I'm right.
When the time arrives and serious work is needed, I trust that other than dealer mechanics will be there for me.
