Smart car give-away

This weekend was the 55th annual Watermelon Thump in Luling, Texas. We only live 17 miles up the road so we headed down to check out the festival, which is always fun. Imagine my thrill to find they're giving away a 2008 Smart! Eric and I both filled out entry forms. I don't care whose mailing list I end up on!! Drawing will be the end of August.

The car was attracting LOTS of positive attention. The guy at the table said they were receiving thousands of inquiries each month about buying one.

The obvious question, where did they get one to give away?

Sometimes timeshares, sometimes vacations, sometimes you're agreeing to allow a company you've never heard of to change your long distance phone provider and charge you up to $1.25 per minute.

Thanks pal. I learned a long time ago to read the print on the back of those forms. Had someone I knew back in high school that ended up with problems when they agreed unknowingly to have their long distance changed. Guess I got to learn from someone elses mistakes! Still be interesting to know what mermaid signed up for.

Personally, I don't think it matter *where* they got it. I think they ought to be given a commendation for giving one away, instead of all these bone-heads that are still giving away monster SUV's, as if that is some sort of prize, with gas prices being what they are...
(And yes, there are at least two drawings being advertised recently that I know of that are giving away SUVs - probably because they can't sell them any more...)

Actually, the sponsoring company was a timeshare outfit. I didn't sign their supplemental form to attend a presentation in exchange for a "wonderful gift". But I'm sure I'll still get multiple contacts for having filled out an entry form for the car.
