Smart car petrol/fuel indicator!!

Ok....I don't get it....I have a 2002 smart passion...I did a 2 hour journey on a full tank, and only one bar on the electronic gauge went down. I thought, wow that's amazing!

I drove around a little more here and there, then the bars just dropped and dropped!

ALSO... Is the fuel completely gone after the last bar is not shaded in....because I haven't yet allowed the car to do that...
it would be SO much easier if they just had a normal indicator...

My guage is the same way, i guess its normal, it seems the dot will not drop till that dot is emptied, you probably have the 6 gal tank, so it will go faster than the 8 gal, i have the 8 gal on my 2002 and it will go 400 miles before the last dot is gone, i never ran out , yet, you must be a new owner of an 02 smart!

Depends on how sure of the exact size of the tank you are.

lol thanks. its a 0.7 petrol I BELIEVE... and it has 6 little boxes for the gauge.... and it's very annoying...
other than that and the delayed gear changing, I love the car

Bumbleflea will do a similar thing, the first bar, I can drive and get 60-70 miles on that so you would assume thats how it is 60-70 miles per bar, but my second bar typically disappears at 80-100 miles

My favorite is when you leave the gas station and the bar disappears like 3 miles later. Dang early shutoff!
