I poked around on the interweb and have come to the conclusion that it will likely cost you between $1000 to $2000 to rent from one of the few companies that do. The closest I found to you was NYC. Maybe they'll make a better price since it would be for a month...

I'll probably shop around for the best rate I can find. I just found out after I had sent this email and googling, that Avon Car Rentals rents smarts. Midway was a bit pricier than I had been quoted at Black & White; so I'm just going to be shopping for the lowest rate I can get. I'm having some body work done to my car before I sell it and get my orphan, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to get used to driving the smart.

I'm curious to know what Avon quoted you. I'm going to be in LA for three days and checked out one place down there and they wanted over $400 for the weekend...

Excuse me, you know I'm new here, but I was thinking that the Smart Car would be inexpensive. I've driven them in Europe quite a bit and, as I recall, they were generally the least expensive option. Is it just because they're still being introduced to the US and demand is greater than supply? Shouldn't they eventually be among the least expensive cars on the road?

it's like renting a "New Beetle" when they came out... plus, the loaded orphans like mine are asspensive to buy.

I bought the Pure at $11,590.00. There are very few cars with such a low base price yet still so cool; IMO.
