Yes. Safer than any other car I have owned in 40 years of driving.

If there were more side and rear protection for your Smart Car would you have been more inclined to initially purchase it?


The smart scores very high - higher than most cars - in side and rear impact protection. I was DISinclined to purchase any other car in the sub-compact or micro-class because they do not meet this standard.

Would you pay more for more safety features?

Gosh, with all the ultra-modern safety features on board the smart, which you can't get on very many other cars in the sub-$50K price level, what else do you want?

I kinda think your questions are from lack of basic knowledge about the smart car.

Do you feel safe in your Smart Car?

I had the perfect experience today on my way to work. Hubby got to drive Betty to Birmingham for her 10k maintenance check this morning (boo woo she not a baby anymore). So I got to drive his Nissan Titan 3/4 ton pick up to work.

Now here in the south, most people would feel much safer in the truck, but to be perfectly honest.... I felt less safe and in control in the truck than I do in my little Cabrio.

I drive 45-50 miles each way to work 5-6 days a week, and on my off days, we take Betty into town for shopping. That is 40-60 miles on the interstate with big trucks and Montgomery AL idiots.

I have never not felt safe and secure, which I believe comes from not only the exceptional safety ratings but also from the maneuverability the little gal has.
