I feel safe, and besides, with handling like that one would think having a crashin these unthinkable.

Lol just joking, but yes, I do feel very safe in it.

Safe.Yes. The shortness of the Smart made me more aware (a little uncomfortable) of SUV tailgaters.

But that hasn't changed while I drive my Wabbit (10 airbags), so I guess its me, not the vehicle I'm driving.

I feel safer than on my Harley, and as safr as any other vehicle I own. It was interesting today, I stopped by a body shop to see a friend, the Progressive adjuster had just entered as I was pulling in. When I walked in she had told my friend how she wouldn't want to be in a accident in that little thing, and he was giving her the lowdown on the tridium cell, and all the other safety features of my smart, he drives a f-150. The adjuster was amazed, and he told her to look it over, I said it's unlocked, so she opened the door and sat down. When she came back in, she said she was amazed at how much room there was, and she didn't feel like she was in a small car until she got out. Educating America one by one.

[quote=merlojaa;275696]Do you feel safe in your Smart Car?
Absolutely

If there were more side and rear protection for your Smart Car would you have been more inclined to initially purchase it?
I think the side protection is good - the rear protection is the engine.

Would you pay more for more safety features?
Maybe - depends on cost/safety effectiveness.

Thanks!

Thank you guys very much for your input. I am currently a student trying to collect data on the perceived perception of safety within a Smart Car and you have helped greatly!

Glad you came back. This is a question we hear quite often and we are never sure what the intent is of someone posting a question like this here.

if your looking into stats and data please look at the following threads

More so than in any car in 30 years of driving.

No, for its class it just about has it all.

Look, the concept of "safety" in ANY car is an illusion. We all gamble when we turn the key. I can think of no other safety feature to put on this make, short of a school bus style strobe light we field for the kiddies here in Virginia.
