Smart Car on Urban Legends

The TV show Urban Legends is pretty cheesy but I sometimes put it on when I'm working on the computer. Tonight's episode was titled "3 Degrees of Separation" and included a story about a young couple who was attacked in their car by a truckfull of drunk jocks. They managed to rev the engine and escape, only to discover that one of the jocks fingers got caught in the bumper and were torn off. The young couple was in a black Smart ForTwo!

It was the only of the three featured stories that wasn't true.

I knew right away this story wasn't true -- you can't take off at a fast enough speed from a dead stop to rip off someone's fingers!

One of the two true stories was a guy who had his arms pulled off in a farm accident, and whose dog guarded the arms until a paramedic could recover them. Both arms were successfully reattached.

The other true story was a guy who bought an old barbecue pit at an auction and discovered a stinky, decomposing foot in it. The foot belonged to a guy who'd had it amputated after an accident, and chose to keep the leg in a rental facility. (God knows why.) Anyway, he didn't pay the rent so everything went to auction. He wanted his leg back but the auction winner SUED to keep the leg. The leg-owner got his severed foot back, but the auction winner got $5000 for his "potential lost revenue".

So the Fortwo driver was able to 'finger' the culprit?

Did the buyer of the bar-b-que realize that something was 'a-foot'?

This kind of "entertainment" is exactly why I turned off my television two years ago and haven't turned it back on since.

But the rear bumper cover has vents in it that you could conceivably stick a finger in...
