You'll have to drop down to, "Monthly U.S. sales", to see the data, but if you look at the total sales per year, you'll see:

If we look at the number for the Smart Car pre-sales allotment, we can see that the Smart Car sales for 2008 will beat the Prius for 2001. Keep in mind as more people purchased the Prius, others became interested in the car.
So, odds are very good that in the upcoming years the Smart Car should do even better than the Prius. After all, it's about 1/2 the cost of the Prius and get about 75 - 80% of the millage of the Prius.
