Just got off the phone to a man who identified himself as The Dealer. He told me that my cabrio was here, but had a broken headlight. There are none in California and it will take a week (or more!) to get one from Detroit.
Since he had already mentioned that he had many cars on the lot unable to be delivered due to a lack of the ordered accessories, I asked if they could pull a lamp assembly from one of those cars. His response was "no way!"
This was after he told me that my part was their #1 priority part and would thus arrive before the accessories letting them make the swap then.
I then asked if he could pull a lamp from one of his floor cars to make this delivery leaving him with one demo car less for a week, but with a satisfied customer. Again the response: "no way"
So much for smart being a different kind of car company, I guess old habits die hard!! When push came to shove, I got shoved.....out of the way!!
