On July 25th, smart City Tour took place in Beijing as the kick-off event of the smart class. The participants drove 200 fashionable smart cars and commenced a grand tour around the wonderful city of Beijing, not only celebrating the launch of the smart class, but also highlighting smart’s unique philosophy.

smart has been paving its successful way through China ever since it launched into the Chinese market in April 2009. Not only does it provides solutions to urban mobility, but also brings a life style of joy, freedom, innovation and self-assurance.

In front of more than 400 people of the smart class, Mr. Björn Hauber, General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd., proudly announced the launch of the smart class. He said,” the smart class will become a personalized and interactive communication platform for all who come in contact with smart. Through smart City Tour and many other following events initiated by the smart class, we hope more and more city dwellers could enjoy a more functional, innovative and joyous urban life.”

At two o’clock in the afternoon, 200 smart cars at Daimler Tower were ready to set out. Well designed smart logos on the fuel tank and special signage behind the front windows made the smart fleets more significant and attractive. After a simple ceremony, 200 smart cars divided into 10 groups started their smart City Tour in the city of Beijing.

All the 10 routes of smart City Tour were carefully selected by smart City Map (map.openyourmind.cn). Each group passed one or two landmarks in Beijing, including the Grand National Stadium and Water Cube, the modern Sanlitun Village, the arty 798 Area and the classic Nan Luo Gu Xiang etc. With the bright colors and agile movements, the smart fleet impressed everyone that it passed by. The delicate body and strong mobility enable smart easily be maneuvered through city streets without increasing any city traffic, which inspired many praises and approval from people on the streets.

After a whole afternoon’s tour, 10 smart fleets gradually arrived at Worker’s Stadium at dusk, and 200 smart cars parked orderly in front of the trendy club Mix. Finally night came, smart stood under the shining neon lights, with the rhythmical music and smart-like smiles, the smart car brought a new look for the fashionable and modern city of Beijing.

As the kick-off event of the smart class, the smart City Tour achieved great success. In the future, more and more innovative young people will join the smart class, sharing the life attitude of smart people. The smart class will launch more exciting activities, bringing the colorful and vivid life into the city and carrying out this stylish life attitude in an ever more interesting way.
