Anyone carry more than one small dog(20lbs) in their smart? I just bought car seat carriers but,,,there is one extra car seat and two dogs? Thniking one in a car seat carrier one in a travel kennel in the back? One is gonna be pissed if I have to do it that way.

We carry our three sub-twenty pounders (17 to 19 pounds) in our two smarts by laying down the passenger seat forward - it goes flat. We cover the seat with a blanket, add a couple of dog cup type nests or pads on the seat, and one dog car seat (cup like) in luggage area. Our three Silky Terriers love it since they can look out the windows (front, side and rear) and smell the fresh air when the AC is off. We like it since we have all three in easy arm's reach at all times. I load them through the rear window so they run to the back of the car when I pick they up for doggie day care. It did take a few times for them to get use to it, but they are fine now and seem to enjoy.

Ask DavidV. He's the poster and owner.

Though I suspect the dogs are free to roan in whatever limited space. But they seem to like it, don't they?

I will either use a cage in back or lay down a blanket and let my Jack Russel roam in the back, he enjoy's both. No matter what he still sheds and his white hairs float everywhere.

We don't have our smart yet, but it will be poodlishish when it arrives! We have two little poodles that love to ride as long as it's not to the vet's office.

I've used a single size one of these for our dog in several cars, it works great and the harness keeps the pup safe from flying forward in short stops or getting loose in the event of an accident or whatnot. Perhaps one of their products or just harnesses and blankets can be used in the hatch area.
