Glad to see pictures of the big dogs out there, I was concerned that my collie and her 'cousins', a smallish lab mix and yorkie may not fit for trips to Pet’s Plus for treats. Me thinks we’ll do just fine.

One of our dogs was adopted after an accident which killed his owner. The passenger survived and said the dog was nuzzling the driver and distracted him. They made a direct hit on a solid concrete bridge abutment, killing him instantly. The dog took off and returned to town some six weeks later. She was pretty skittish for a while, but now rules our household.
I suggest nets or cages to contain the dogs and allow the driver to ignore them.

I definitely plan on getting a cargo net to keep the dogs in the back. Any one of them that get to ride up front, my collie most likely, will be harnessed. So sad about you dog’s first owner, guess I’ve been lucky that mine have always just sat or laid down for the ride.

My mom has this dog seat belt thing she got at Pet Smart for her dog. Works great. Keeps Daisey in the passenger seat and she still has just enough room to lay down or sit up.

You guys have some adorable dogs. I'm kind of jealous. I took my cat for a spin round the block in it. She couldn't have cared less.

My bichon always tries to hang herself when she's in one of those. She knows she can't come on the driver's side (maybe that's why she tries to hang herself) but had always stayed in the second seat in the van, but I can't put her in the back in my smart because the wheelchair is there. I just ordered one of those Snoozer things from SmartAzz's post for her. We'll see how that goes. - sheureka

PS - Ordering from Petco, particularly with various discounts available on the net, is lots cheaper than ordering from the manufacturer.

Sorry for a late reply, I will take some pictures next Thursday - July 31 when the Frenchies (Gigi, Vouvray, and Cassis) go to school again as they are known at Playful Paws. I do not secure them as they are good about staying put in the dog nests, although the rear car nest could be hooked to the D-ring in the luggage area as our car seat does have snap ring to secure.

Stowage area for short trips

Our two Boston Terriers fit nicely behind the seats. It is the right size for their dog bed. However, I have not taken them for a very long ride (under a couple of miles). It may be a bit hot behind the seat for any extended trip.

My 80 pound rough collie fits back there with plenty of extra room. Of course, she would prefer the front seat, but where would that leave my daughter?

Here are the pictures as promised (not really good pictures - the girls did not want their pictures taken after a long day at Playful Paws with their friends)
