Smart Factory Alarm System Option

Im wondering what does the Smart alarm do and wonder what features does it have.
Is it just a regular car alarm or does it do anything special.
Im trying to decide weither or not if I should get it apposed to an aftermarket alarm system.

The Canadian recipients of the new 451 were pleasantly surprised with its features. If I recall they included ignition lockout and intrusion into the cockpit sensors. They called it a "must have" option. They pay approx $220.00 whereas we have a bargain at $160.00.

I think it makes noise and flashes its lights if it is violated in any way. Just like any other alarm. Sorry couldnt resist.

There is a very good review on clubsmartcar.ca. Search for alarm. Its a real nice extra for not much more (wish I was getting it now). It senses if someone breaks in, including if someone sticks their hand inside with the windows down. It flashes the lights, sounds the horn and immobilizes the car. Pretty cheap, too.

Its the factory alarm is not on the official list of dealer installed options I got from my dealer today.

Either are factory fog lamps, or heated seats for example.

The clock/rev counter is available as a DIO for $249 ($120 at factory).
