Smart Fix-a-Tire thing REALLY works

Had this nail in my rear tire......

Thankfully however, I saw the guage saying low tire pressure, fired up my Blackberry Curve and did a search for tire shops near me, drove into one and my tire was already close to the rim. This nail caused 2 separate impressions, the hole itself and the 'smooth' side was pressing against the sidewall where the tire and rim meet. So there was air escaping from there as well. Well, they plugged the hole successfully but it was still leaking. Used the Fix-A-Flat thing under the passenger footwell and I used the little pump and the included fluid to fix my flat. I was astounded because I didnt think it would stop it since it was so close to the rim. But it did.

Now I need a new rear 175/55/15 tire. Gotta go to Merchant tire on Friday and get it installed after I call them tomorrow and order it.

The only maker is Continental ContiTire. And NO ONE stocks these tires.

Aren't you going to have to buy a new "tire repair kit" as well? For $300?

I carry an actual can of Fix-A-Flat in the tailgate well because it's a lot cheaper to replace than the kit included with the car.

Those fix a flat things are bad for your rim, they actually eat into the wheel. This was my experience.

I was told when I got my car that you can get replacement parts for the flat kit at Walmart for like $15.

...wash the pump/line with hot water and it will be good for another use..
..if you have the tire/wheel warranty then is not an issue...

Call Tire Rack or just order online. They have a warehouse in DE and will drop ship it to your installer.

Does this look familiar? They've got the full kit for $79 and replacement goop/hose for $25. Anyone trying to sell it to you for $300 is, umm, profiting. This is not $300 worth of stuff even in Beverly Hills, with a courtesy cappuccino with a lemon tweest.

Good find! But does this -

Note: This product cannot be used on vehicles equipped with direct tire pressure monitoring sensors in the wheels. Use of this product on these vehicles could result in damage to the sensor inside the wheel. Please contact your sales specialist at Tire Rack for more information.
mean we shouldn't use this it on our tires? - sheureka (who obviously doesn't understand the tire pressure monitoring system)

Using the tire repair kit
The tire repair kit can be used to seal punc
tures of up to approximately 0.16 in (4 mm) on
the tire tread.
The tire repair kit enables you to drive on the
sealed tire to the nearest authorized smart
center.
> You should have the sealed tire replaced at
an authorized smart center.
It's a one time use for both, the canister and the tire... The sensor and the rim probably require a thorough cleaning...
