Smart ForTwo ED coming in 2010

Woohoo! I just read in one of my favorite car blogs the news that Diamler is planning on producing the Smart ForTwo Electric Drive in 2010. The post can be found here:

Daimler to produce Smart, Mercedes-Benz electric cars in 2010

What would you guys think about an electric version of your Smart?

If it provides enough range for a few days to and from work (100 miles) and gets up to 70mph on demand... for a reasonable price premium, of course... I'll be all over it like white on rice.

I can't currently afford $40k for a LiV Dash, but if the Dash can be produced in small quantities for that much, surely Daimler-Benz can bring it down to 25-30k. I also want a decent warranty, even if I have to pay extra for extended terms. Multiple price points, I can deal with. In two years I can probably afford a $30k electric car.

Oh, and keep it Smart small. I love the size of this thing.

Behold the search function. It existith for the very human need to perform a search. Glory be to the search function for it enables us to find previously posted information which would otherwise not be known to us. Although, as I rush to begin another thread post, I shall fear no reprisal for I have utilized search and have assured myself that no other relivant thread has previously existed. Praise the search feature, for it is our friend.

What is your deal?

You say on a previous post you hate hybrids and now you knock electric cars?

What do you think people think about you driving the smart?

Sorry about that. I started typing the post a while before, and then had to stop to do some other things at work before I could finish the post and hit the button. At the time, there was no other post about the ED, just the one about the LiVDash, which isn't the same thing.
