I guess I don't know what exactly you are trying to say about us here in SoCal... my local volunteer community association just planted and continues to tend some 80+ trees on behalf of our city, to help beautify our neighborhood at our own expense. There are similar organizations all over my city, LA county and the state of California doing the same kind of works.
I will admit that the local transit authority for Los Angeles County (MTA) has paid contracts for the MTA Freeway patrol, which consists of towing/service trucks that provide
free gas, tire changing, and/or towing off of the freeways for broken down motorists.
Perhaps y'all should try the California way before dissing it...
