Technically, if you can't see around, over or through a vehicle and can't see the light... you're too close, regardless of what you're following, or what circumstances. I've heard of people trying to defend a ticket with the size issue... comes back the same answer. El que pega por atras, paga. "He who hits from behind, pays." 3 second rule is the minimum. Fire trucks say to stay 500 feet behind - because they're huge, and can stop and/or veer without notice.
