smart one page document description
I was asked to have my little red smart at a school earth day display. I would like to have a one page description of the smart to post in the window.
I know that in the past, there have been .doc files something like that posted but I can't find them. Does somebody have one they could send me
jthomas119@gmail.com
Thanks
John
PS: Maybe this would be a good candidate for the "Gallery"

Try sending a PM to rrucke (Regina) - she has a handout she'd probably share with you.

EXCELLENT IDEA!!!! I used to have a Honda Insight and there is an Insight website that had a pdf that you could print out. I printed it out on a color laser on high grade paper then laminated with very thick lamination and used to hand that to people to read. I also had a safety book that was just about safety features alone since a majority of my questions were more like comments about how I was sure to have a quick and instantaneous death should an out of control 18 wheeler run over me . I laminated the front and back pages then spiral bound that book. All were included to the buyer when I sold my car, he loved them as it answered most questions.
I'd be willing to make something up if no one else wants to (sounds like someone has, I didn't look, is there a documents section with the gallery?). It shouldn't have things like, "There is a year long wait to get the Smart". Just the general safety issues, top speed, engine size & construction etc. Enough to fill two pages so you can have a double sided flyer. Oh and of course it should have pics, the roadshow display of the
tridon, maybe some "dressed up" Smarts. Now I've got myself eager to make this.
PM me if anyone wants to do a joint effort, I can do layout etc, my writing leaves much to be desired. If regina has one already, I don't want to step on her toes - maybe she can post it in the gallery.

I'd love something. If anyone could share what they have that would be great. Since those who have had theirs longer no doubt have more insight as to what needs to be on there than myself.

This is the FAQ sheet I posted in this thread before it got lost.
It's a smart car. For more information, go to http://www.smartusa.com, the official company site, and to a fan site, http://www.smartcarofamerica.com.
It's made by the Mercedes Automobile Group, a division of Daimler-Benz, in Hambach, France. Its design originated as a joint venture of Mercedes-Benz and Swatch, the watch maker. It has been sold in Europe since 1998, and 2008 is the first year it has been distributed in the US. In the United States, it is distributed by smart USA, a division of the Penske Automotlve Group.
There are three Washington, DC-area dealers: Euro Motorcars in Germantown, MD (http://www.euromotorcars.com/EMC/Germantown/Smart/), Lindsay Auto Group in Alexandria, VA (http://www.lindsaysmartcenter.com/), and Smart Center Tyson's Corner (http://www.smartcentertysonscorner.com/).
It's gas-fueled, not electric or hybrid. Its mileage is 33/41 MPG under 2008 EPA standards (40/45 MPG under 2007 EPA standards). This is the highest MPG of any non-hybrid car, although it does takes premium gasoline. It's 8'10.1" long, 5'1.38" wide, and 5'0.71" tall. The trunk is 39" wide, 27" tall, and 21" deep. It weighs 1,852 pounds (the hardtop models weigh 1808 pounds).
All smart models have the same engine and safety features. The Mitsubishi engine is 1.0L, 71 horsepower, 3 cylinders. The transmission is a 5-speed "automated manual" that can be driven in either automatic or manual mode. Its top speed is set by an electronic governor at 90 MPH. It is equipped with front and side air bags, anti-lock brakes, an electronic stability program, and a steel "tridion cell" that is like a racing car's roll cage.
The smart comes in three models: the Pure coupe is the basic model, without air conditioning or radio: it starts at $11,590. The Passion coupe, with air conditioning, radio, some luxury features, and a sunroof, starts at $13,590. This car is a convertible, with upgraded radio and sound system. It is called the Passion cabriolet, and starts at $16,590. A limited number of options are available, including leather seats, heated seats, fog lights, and tachometer and clock pods.
The steel tridion cell comes in either silver or black. The body panels are plastic and replaceable; a full set of body panels costs $899 in white, black, or yellow or $1099 in blue, silver, or red.

JPAUL- Great stuff! I was looking for that at the roadshow and came up empty handed.
JWIGHT- Excellent! I wonder if gimhoff minds if I plagiarize some of that info? Add some pics here and there and maybe some other info though I don't know what since it is very well covered. I'll probably do a specs section too.

I found the "Anyone have a FAQ made?" thread
Anyone have a FAQ made?
that contains a couple of handouts including the one by "gimhoff". I made up my own mostly based on gimhof's.
I suspect that the ideal handout will always contain some individual information so what is needed is a .doc formatted version that can be customized as needed.

It's free for use
I posted my one-pager to get feedback for corrections, to find out what other common questions should be answered, and to share it for others to adapt for their own use if they wished. Thanks to jwight for reposting it here before I saw this thread, and to reply to Bum-bling-b: please, feel free to use it.
