Oh okay...thanks for that. It doesnt look like there would be enough clearance, but if you're confident with the product - what can i lose? A couple hundred dollars to have it installed.

On "how low is it?" - the answer is LOW - it's the lowest part of the car. However, it is near the rear axle, so I expect that speed bumps won't be an issue.
On the low side view - it does not extend past the rear valance, which I like.

There may be other hitch solutions out there but this one seems to work OK with the smart. I don't have a hitch on our car so have no first hand knowledge of how this would be in the real world.
