SMART show in Fort Walton Beach, FL on Oct. 24, 2009

OK, so it isn't for smarts "exclusively" but it does have a smart class. I just had to get your attention.

This goes out to ANYONE and EVERYONE from ANYWHERE who would like to attend. Sorry for the late notice.

The Emerald Coast smart Car Club formally invites anyone who drives a smart or is interested in smarts to our October Meet & Greet. This one is going to be at a car show with a smart class as was mentioned before. What other car show have you seen that has a class especially for our smarts? This could be one of the first shows in the US to have a class devoted to smarts...if not the first. We'll have excellent shaded parking for entrants and non-entrants will be able to park VERY close to the show entrants (almost on the show field). Last year there was 290 cars total at this show - parking is limited (but not for smarts )

What makes this so special is that there is actually a lot to do as the show is held at the Air Force Armament Museum near Eglin Air Force Base, FL (Fort Walton Beach, FL) in the panhandle. The show is sponsored by Hurlburt Field, FL which is a Special Operations base.

Lots of neat things to see. 25 different aircraft to include the FIRST EVER production C-130 (which is now an AC-130 gunship), also a SR-71 plus plenty of other neat airframes. How about a picture of your smart next to the world's BIGGEST bomb? The MOAB - 21,000lbs, is maybe 100 feet from where the smarts will be parked - don't worry, it isn't live.

Once again, come on out. Hotels are plentiful and you can make a little vacation out of it as well. Destin, FL is about 15 miles from where the show is. Hopefully we'll have about around 20-30 of our club members attend plus whoever else wants to come. This is an informal get-together. Just a fun time for smart lovers - no obligation to enter the show if you don't want to.

Only reason I got that pic on there is because of the threat to the graphic artist that made it. I said, "IF YOU DON'T USE A PICTURE OF MY CAR ON THE FLIER, YOU'RE WALKING HOME!"

Suze - I doubt I'll have time to do one up. I wouldn't put it on one of my cars anyhow, most likely a donor car. I am planning on having something special to have there, nothing big - but it is about 4 feet long and 2.5 feet long.

Neon - not modest, just not as good I should be yet. I've been told to be a Jack of all trades you need to master each trade first - thus I learn as much about everything as possible.

Wdhitch - see you there!

I've heard rumor that the infamous NCC1701 will be there too. ..........complete with his internet suite Cabrio.

A few other things I didn't note in the original post. The DOOR PRIZES for entrants. Because this show is hosted by the Air Force the profits from the show can not go towards a charity like most shows do. However, the profits DO go back into the show. That means some excellent door prizes and the trophies are VERY nice and exclusive!

I'll have to snap some pictures of my trophies from years past. They are actual spent 25mm, 30mm and 40mm shells from AC-130 gunships. The "special" trophies are 105mm shells.

That's the latest and greatest. Should be a nice smart get together.

Who needs Starbucks? NCC1701 has a mobile hotspot! Lucky...

All he needs now is a mini expresso vending machine and he's got himself the world's smallest internet cafe!

I had a great time at last year's show, even though Bum-bling wasn't around much until the very end of the day ... at which point he installed my Bad Boy air horn for me!!
Aside from his company, there was something else missing last year .... ahhhh. Oh, yeah, I couldn't get online out there, while enjoying being outdoors with great Florida Fall weather. Those people who think I'm nutz for shunning cell phones can now snicker at me for utilizing the cell infrastructure. (maybe I should get a VoIP provider ).
I won't be in the competition this year though.

I completely forgot that you are the only person I know who doesn't have a cell phone.

Yes, plenty to do there on top of schooling people on with "Truth about Smart" website. Lots of planes, a free museum which is quite a good size and around 250 or so classic cars, trucks, & motorcycles to go along with the smarts to look at. An eventful day for sure. PLUS, a good amount of smart owners to converse with.

DON'T FORGET YOUR LAWN CHAIRS!
