This weekend was the annual Historic Races at Portland International Raceway (PIR). My 10 year old son & I attended on Saturday with my Porsche 911 SC and we had a great time. On Sunday, local Car & HOT Rod clubs were allowed to take a lap around the race track. My son asked if we could take the smart around the track instead of the 911….lol. His Mom who drives the smart to work daily had quite a giggle over that bomb! Anyway we brought the smart on Sunday and were immediately mobbed by race fans wanting to know about our little blue & silver car. I was even parked next to an original 289 AC Cobra and the crowd still gathered around my smart, pretty wild. I had made informational fliers to distribute in anticipation of the standard three questions we are all asked. What kind of mileage does it get? How much did it cost? Were can I buy one? Anyway one older (vintage) lady even opened up the driver’s side door and sat down while I watch in amazement. When I asked her if I could help she asked if it was for sale. It is really wild that a cheap little city car could get so much attention parked next to cars worth close to a million dollars. Anyway, we were able to make a brisk lap around the track while fans cheered; my son, & his Dad, loved the attention.
