SMART Towing Service

Hi folks,
My wife got t-boned in the Smart car.
No injuries, the other car hit her on the passenger side at around 20mph.
The trid took the punishment. The rear passenger side tire is crooked. I will post a pic in a few days.
The rear tire rim is bent, also.
The reason I am posting is, when she phoned the 800 number to get the car towed, they said they don't tow for accidents - only for car breakdowns.
Fortunately, I have AAA, and we used that instead.
I just wanted to share that the Smart towing service has limitations that you might not be aware of - we sure didn't know !!!

Here in Ohio, After a crash there are normally no less than one officer and two tow trucks ( one of which would be a flat bed) at the crash before you could say what happened. All paid for by the crasher

I wish I was in Ohio, LOL. Here in SoCal - my wife phoned the police, and they said as long as there are no injuries, they don't dispatch to car accidents.
They told her to go to their website and fill out an accident report.

Roadside assistance programs typically don't tow for accidents - only for issues with the vehicle itself.

Glad to hear your wife is okay!

Some new (as of 08') Il. driving laws

1. more than one driver can be at fault for an accident (ex: driver turns too late, other driver hits gas and rams other driver)

2. you must report an accident that causes $500 or more in damage.

some old but odd laws

3. children 7 & under that sit in the rear of vehicle Does not have to wear a seat belt.

4. motorcyclists don't have to wear a helmet but are recommended to.

5. Alcohol ZERO TOLERANCE Policy:legal limit is .08 (8%)

6. the fastest you can ever drive on an Il. road is 65mph.

7. It's not a hit & run if you leave a note on the vehicle
