Depending on the model year of your Certified Pre-Owned smart, you could have either 1 year / up to 100,000 total vehicle accumulated miles or 2 years / up to 100,000 total vehicle accumulated miles.1
Took them a while but they finally got this going.
Be interesting to see how they roll this out - advertised program or secret handshake inside the smart Center coat closet?
This could make the smart Centers more interested in buying your used smart expecially if it is low miles and has documented service at the dealer?
It may also prop up the used smart value, only time will tell?
The warranty fine print is killer - The smart CPO Limited Warranty covers the cost of parts and labor needed to repair any item on your vehicle, if they are defective in material or workmanship, you pay nothing for repairs covered by the Warranty. There are some exceptions to coverage so ask your authorized smart center to review the exceptions.
Then if you have some extra change in your pocket you can opt for the smart CPO Extended Limited Warranty.
Note: It will be interesting to see the CPO coverage (defective in material or workmanship) of clutch actuators, fuel pumps, heater blower motors and such - only time will tell.
Timing for this program is good as we are four years out from introduction with a likely inventory of used smarts that could be turning over? The 2013 “facelift” should allow the NEW inventory to stand on its own from the Pre-Owned CPO?

Reason: See Note: for further thoughts . . .
Sounds like a good deal for some people who want a used one. I'll have to check it out next time I'm at my local dealer... oh shoot. I forgot.. Weeks not months!

Might be an opportunity to offer up a low mileage 2010 or 2011 to your smart center - the CPO program is just ramping up and they don't have much inventory right now.
