smart vs. global warming

Think half that I hear about global warming is bs but here is my question as it relates to smart. We see disasters every day. Mud slides, flooding, record cold, record heat, hurricanes etc. Today was the first day I drove my smart car in the rain and there were significant road drainage issues in my area. Anybody know what level of water the smart car can get through? Is there something vital too close to the ground to go through water 9 inches deep for example. Anybody try already?

suck in water through the air intake and your engine will be toast.

Talk to any swift water rescue people and they'll tell you not to drive through anything over a couple of inches, especially if it's moving. The evening news is always full of people in SUVs stranded in the middle of some giant puddle.

Where is that though & how high? Some cars are particularly vulnerable to water intake vs others.

I'm really not a drive through the water type of guy. I would never consider going through moving water but some of those heavy accumulations or floods around a highway exit which you see too late concern me.

Do NOT drive through puddles if you can help it.

REcently when it was raining... I saw a car with the front corner sunk into a puddle at the side of the road. Rear tires up in the air.

You see there was a big hole in the ground there, where the shoulder was damaged, but you couldn't tell because it just looked like a puddle over a low spot on the shoulder.
