As long as it takes me to buckle my seat belt.

I let the "noisy humming secondary motor bad fume burning thingy" get done before I back out of the garage!

I buckle the seat belt first, then start the car and go. I let it warm up on the road.

My Jeep Wrangler is a "Start-Up-N-Go". My Smartie will also be a "Sart-Up-N Go" :-)

I just pretty much go, all the BMWs I've had in recent memory actually stipulates no warm up in the manual so I figure that new cars simply do not need it. I don't like letting fumes accumulate in the garage and figure it just adds to pollution anyway.

As for ensuring the oil temp is warm before getting on the revs much, well there's nothing built in as some cars have, might go for a scanguage to see that info.

By the time I buckle up, open the top, settle on some sounds, the purge fan has stopped spinning and away I go. With most cars I just drive 'n' go. With the smart I do wait for that fan to stop, but again we're only talking seconds, not minutes.

There hasn't been a "warm up" period required in years. The only recommendation out there is to keep the initial revs down for a few minutes. As all above have stated....the time it takes you to put on your seat belt and adjust your shorts is enuff to hit the road.

No Warm Up Necessary

I like the way LinuxGuy said it. I, too, just wait for the "noisy humming...thingy" to stop.
A new idea I have just tried is backing ANT BEE into the garage.
It looks cute & smiley when the garage door is open.
