Smart Women - check in here!

I often get the feeling that this board is dominated by guys. That's fine, no complaints.

But I'd like to see a show of hands of women smart owners. I know we're not the majority, but we probably have a pretty big voice.

So let's here it girls - tell us your story from a feminine perspective.

Hey Suze, Great Idea!

My name's Macy and I am a 23 year old woman from northern Indiana.

My baby is a white/black/black passion, his full name is Albert Einstein, Einstein or E for short.

I have shed so many tears over this car, from finding the RC car that made me fall in love with them, to thinking how much I've changed and grown since I got him.

He arrived at smart center Indianapolis on April 7th, which just happened to be a day my mom had a doctor's appointment. I stopped by the dealership just to see where it was and started taking pictures of a white/black/black on the lot, because that's what I had ordered. I then went inside to meet everyone and introduced myself with my first name only. When Max asked what my last name was, I told him and he said my car had just arrived that morning and how did I know. I didn't know and guess I must have ESP with E. I let out an overly girly squeal of joy and they thought I was going to faint. I didn't! I had to wait for my husband's day off and picked him up on April 10th. I stayed up until almost 4am staring out the window, fearing that if I went to bed, I'd wake up and it'd be all some glorious dream. I slept a whole 5 hours that night and when I woke up it wasn't a dream!

I've had an anxiety disorder since I was really young and I never liked getting out and was VERY anti-social. I've come to enjoy talking to people-especially about my car, I've made MANY MANY new friends, and I am President of SIN (Smarties of Indiana)!!

I've always had an affection for cars, I get that from my dad, but I never thought I would fall head over heels in love with one. I never quite understood how some people could love their car so much that they'd want to kiss it good night, but now I do!

Thanks for letting me share my story and I look forward to reading others!

I'm Karen Stranz , I am 56 Yrs old and live outside of Atlanta, GA

I've been driving an Mini CooperS for about three years, getting in trouble with the police and insurance company because I like to go fast

My boss and I were talking about cars and I like small ones so he suggested looking at the TA TA as a joke, not for me...but it was the first time I saw a smart car and fell in love with it. I went to the smart website and put a reservation in and a week later made an appointment at our smart center buckhead dealership. I figured I had about a year to wait and I wanted to drive one to see if it was worth the wait. I took my adult daughter with me, as we go on several road trips together and she helps drive, so I wanted her opinion. We BOTH fell in love.

After the road test, I was showing the girls that worked there a notebook I had put together showing all the different mods I was planning on doing to the car when I got it. One of the girls said, "You know that car right there is available"....I turned around, and there was the car already having most of the mods, I had planned to do! It was yellow and black with black wheels, lowered body, 17" wheels and tires, tinted and had the comfort pkg! I took it home that afternoon, they took my Mini in as trade and gave me Kelley Bluebook value for it.

I have added more tint, put a DVD player in with ipod/bluetooth, had bumble bee graphics added along with lettering on the front windshield "SIZE MATTERS" AND "SMART" on the sides and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. I just removed various bits & pieces on the inside of the car I call "Sunshine", and sent them to babybenz to paint yellow! I'm excited to get them back probably next week sometime.

My Grandson especially likes the stickers I bought from Asthetic Creations for the center buttons that has "Missles", "Invisibility", "Oil SLick" "Ejection Seat" etc!

Sorry I went on and on...but it's an exciting little car!

My name is Lindy. I'm 29 (almost 30, thank gawd) and I live right outside Washington DC.

I started car shopping a year and a half before I got my smart. My last car, a Chevy Cavalier, I got when I was 19 and it was what I could afford at the time so I wanted to take my time and buy the right car for me and make sure it was what I wanted. I went to 2 auto shows, test drove countless cars and became obsessed with looking up all cars' specs. I sold my car at the beginning of the year and started taking public transportation and hitching rides with friends in an attempt to save money. I had my eyes set on a Mazda 3 hatchback. I also really liked the Subaru Outback Sport.

My "requirements" for my new car were I was first and foremost I was not going to be car poor. My new car had to have a cup holder. And since the gas prices had gotten the way they did my new car had to get a least the same gas millage or better as my Cavalier.

So one evening my boyfriend and I were out and we saw a bumble bee drive through the parking lot of the shopping center we were at. I have no idea how I even new that it was a smart car. I have never been overseas and the closest thing I had even seen was a Cross blade in St. Marteen 2 years earlier.

The next day I was on a rant about how gas prices had gotten out of control and I how it would be pointless to even buy a new car because I wouldn't be able to afford the gas. Then I said completely joking "I'm going to buy one of those little European cars." I then spent the day researching them on line and really liked what I saw. I even saw that there was a smart dealer right around the corner from where I worked. So after work I went to check them out. I walked in the door, saw one and was sold. I threw down my $99 before even fully looking one over or going for the test drive. I then became obsessed with the smart car. I believe it was March 8, 2008.

Then I found this forum which helps a ton. Then one day having some time to kill I of course say lets go to the smart dealer. Lowe and behold there in the show room was the exact smart I ordered and it was one day away from being orphaned. Needless to say I got my smart on July 21, 2008 and I already have a little over 6,000 miles on her. Honestly, after car shopping for so long there was no way I was going to be able to wait over a year to get my car since then I knew what I wanted.

I'm Janet Christian, aka JanetMermaid (not just online -- pretty much everywhere). I'm 53 and live in Lockhart, Texas, about 40 miles south of Austin. I live on a 100 acre ranch we named Tiki Acres. We have a 7 acre private lake, where my collection of Japanese koi (all have names) live with native perch, catfish, an bass alligator gar (all not named). I have one husband named Eric, one border Collie named Bodhi, and ten cats (Herbie, Tuffy, Church, Houston, Kaji, Kimuri, Mabon, Missy, Puff, and Sputnik). I'm the bookkeeper for our small business, so I get to work at home. I do handbuilding with clay and am also a mystery writer.

My pride and joy is Dory, my new Smart car. I ordered her on 11/7/07 and picked her up on my birthday, 10/23/08. I ordered a yellow/black Smart with an extra set of blue panels. We swapped panels to create the illusion of the blue/black/yellow Dory from Finding Nemo. I had custom lettering that says "Just keep swimming!" put across the back bumper, added a small Dory statue to the dashboard, and ordered custom plates that say MY DORY. I even got custom powdercoating on the wheels -- blue for the front, yellow for the back). She's all theme, except for the fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror -- a birthday present from my big sister.

I've already got almost 2000 miles on her, and I've had her less than a month. I'm averaging between 36 and 40 mpg, depending on how much of a hurry I'm in

Here's my beloved Dory in front of our lake:

My name is Abbe and I am 56 and live in Omaha, Ne. I have had my car since June 08. I first saw the car in Canada on a cruise to Alaska. Somehow I stumbled across the smart usa web site put in my reservation May of 07. I waited to see where the dealerships would be and was shocked when I discovered that one was going in less then 5 miles from the house. Never thought I would see one in Omaha.

It was a total impule buy since I already own a Vibe and a 73 VW thing and a 66 VW bug. Together with my boyfriends pickup and 79 vette.

I love the car. We now have a three car garage that holds 4 cars.

Hi, My name is Melanie and I love my smart.

My quest began several years ago when I saw a Smart car in a magazine at work. I HAD to have one. When I got back to my desk I looked it up on the internet and to my dismay they were not available in the U.S., only in Europe.

Later I happened to be home during the day and saw Ellen give one away on her show. I was so sad...I Wanted One Too! Checked on the internet and couldn't find them here again. So I just put it out of my head.

Then last spring I was taking a night class and there in the parking lot was my first sighting of a beautiful blue Smartie. I immediately checked out who the dealer was on the license plate holder and called them the next day, (after I had been to the website and put my deposit down). That phone call introduced me to the Orphan program And I signed up for that over the weekend.

After waiting 6 months and turning down 4 Smart cars that were just too heavily loaded for my tastes I am driving my red/black/black no-longer-orphaned-Mo and I love him.

When she told me I was going to get the exact car I would have ordered when my time can up I told the Rep at Smart center Lindon I was doing the totally "femal" thing and getting giddy!!! I made arrangements to pick up the car in 2 days, then called back 15 minutes later and made arrangements to pick it up the next day. How can anyone wait a whole extra day for something they have been waiting for for years?

I'm very happy to belong to the Smart family and to be a "Smart" female!

Hey Suze - I'm smart. too, but geez, do I have to give my age? OK, OK, I'm 59 tomorrow! Actually for the first time in my life I'm looking forward to getting older - only 6 months to my IRA (if there's anything left) and 3 years to Social Security (again if there's anything left).

I lived in Eugene, OR when I adopted my "Little Orphan Annie", but moved back to my home town of Reno, NV last summer. I can honestly say that she's the first car that I've truly been in love with.

This is such a good idea, I'm looking forward to hearing from other smart females, but then again - aren't we all?
