A few years ago the F150 was basically a steel coffin. When it hit a wall, it would fold up like an accordion. They did change the design to the integrity of the cabin so it will stay in tact. I'm not sure if this is the same model or not.

You are correct it's the 02' version prior to the redesign, however it still gets the point across....lol

All should read the circumstances as told...

By the Smart Owner in Canada (toronto) Lots of interesting posts (and some idiotic) but the driver and his passenger got out with barely scratches.
That speaks well for the Smart being hit by a 5 Ton box body truck at 25mph when the smartie was stopped....I was impressed!

That test was done 3 0r 4 years ago it was used by Mini dealers to help show how safe their cars were. I don't remember how fast the cars were going but both cars were tested under the same conditions.

The picture isn't the full picture. For example, you can youtube a crash test of a loaded VW T3 van and watch the entire thing crush into pieces like a tin can. Yet take that same van yet without any load and crash it into a Volvo wagon and watch the Volvo occupants sustain head injuries that likely would kill the Volvo occupants. Thus if I were in a headon collision between a F150 and a Smart car, well the height of the F150 would be above the protective components of the Smart. You have to compare apples and oranges. Now as far as offset crashes, that's an older F150 that did horrible and since F150 has become a leader in truck safety. I don't own a Ford, but the same can be said of a lot of vehicles. Take the Astro van, look at the crash tests, yet the vehicle is ranked in the top 10 for the vehicle with the least reported injuries. I wouldn't believe it based on the offset crash tests, height does help in certain crashes...especially in car versus truck crashes. Check out the van versus Volvo crash here. The safest thing about a vehicle is the driver yet some accidents are unavoidable.

Yup, and that certainly doesn't mean that you are not the 'sucker'.

Keep swilling that oil; maybe you'll pop out of your accordion folded F150 easier.

How nice of you to make your desires public. This document will be useful in your trial.

No - not standard with the F150, but apparently they do come with the F350s
