SMART your only car?

Hi all,
Seems lots of folks plan on having more than one car. Doesn't really fit the SMART ethic, IMHO, so I was wondering how many of us out there would have the SMART as their only car and if so, where do you live?

Cheers!

Constantly changing my mind about the colours

Not counting my wife's Jaguar, it will be MY only car. Lessons I've learned - she gets to keep the house and the Jag! Then it would really be my only car. ;)

My wife and I do occasionally have to haul extra people and things about, and that'll be what our second car does. I work out of my car (50-100 miles a day), and drive the most, so I'll get the smart because I'm rarely with anyone else, and my tools and stock items will fit just fine behind me.

My wife and three daughters have a Suzuki XL7 that we use to go places together. I have a Honda Valkyrie Motorcycle and a Geo Tracker. The Tracker is going to be sold in order to make room for the fortwo so it will be my "only" car.

The Smart may end up being my only car. But, my wife's Lexus isn't going anywhere - we do like to take out other people occasionally. I also have a '93 Toyota pickup that is useful for light hauling - it's not leaving either. The only optional vehicle that may get replaced is my Audi TT.

I didn't know that there was a Smart ethic...it's a car that fits the time, and should have been here long ago, but it isn't an indication of my lifestyle. I am not buying the car to make a statement, it just makes sense.

I currently drive an SUV, which I will keep for towing my trailer, bigger shopping trips, etc. Right now I drive about 10,000 miles a year at 18mpg; once I get the smart that should change to 8,000 miles at 50mpg and 2,000 miles at 18mpg. In addition, the reduced wear and tear on the SUV means it should last at least another 10 years (and I intend to keep it until it falls apart).

If you compare the alternative (i.e. buying a new SUV in a couple of years), the overall savings in energy consumption over the next decade (including manufacturing, operating and recycling the vehicles) represents a worthwhile net gain.

No problem with American citizens who have a minimalist ethos, want to lower their carbon foot print, do more with less, yadda yadda...

Me, just seems like another practical decision for our transportation needs.

Oh BTW the travel trailer is on a rear hitch so the Smart will fit in the bed and not over load the rear axle (grin)

My wife drives an '07 MINI Cooper S. I drive an '07 Subaru Forester. My summer daily driver is an '06 Miata. I also have a whole garage full of motorcycles, too many to list. We're doing our part to reduce our carbon footprint.
