That smartie in the window... How much?

* smart fortwo passion: 13590
I want a White body with a black T-Cell so that should be standard I think.

Power Steering:450
Are you sure? That just seems like a LOT for PS.
Could you get a smart without PS?
Should you?

smart premium sound system: 350
I have NEVER been dissapointed with a sound system upgrade
You will NEED a subwoofer at anything over 20 MPH
Not sure if it's worth the extra 200 bones though.

Comfort Package: 850
Ok, that covers the 450 PS, that makes this option 400 dollars for...
Heated Leather seats
I COULD live without this here in sunny San Antonio but damn I do like the smell of leather
Am I going to pay 400 dollars (plus interest) for a smell?
Rain and light sensor
I'm a big fan of automotive electronics but exactly what do these do anyway?
Auto-off headlamps with exit delay.
I like this feature so much that I'd pay a hundred bucks to have it installed. Then I could tell myself I'm only paying 300 for a smell.

Additional Instruments: 120
A clock and a tach, shure that sounds like a good deal.
But, Um... I thought these came with the comfort package.

Without Comfort Package OR PS: 14060

Without Comfort Package: 14510

The Works: 14910

*Excluding tax, license, registration, destination charge and options
ewwww... destination charge!
Anybody have any idea what that is likeley to add up to?
WTH? Why not just lump this in with the manufacturing charge?
Is this how the middleman will get his pound of flesh?

Tax: 14910*.0625=931.875
License: ?
You mean the metal thing they send you after you registar it?
Registration : 65
Refund of Reservation Fee: -100

Out the door: 15806

15106 otd - 13590msrp = 2216 Cash

My $350 for an entertainment system will go toward an aftermarket radio such as this one.

Linkie

I have never been impressed with a factory unit. The sound quality just isn't there.

Factor in Delivery - my guess $795 to $1195.

Delivery? No thanks, I'll drop by the stealership and pick it up.

Besides...I was kind of thinking that was what the destination charge was.

Technically ( according to the English language anyway...), the destination is my driveway and since the driveway actually belongs to me, I think I'll wave that fee.

Here are some other creative fees dealers could charge if they like to keep lots of cars in their inventory...

Origin charge.
Processing Fee.
Sire fee.
ASPCA Charge.
Customs adjustment
Hourly Minimum Fee.
Pizza Removal Fee.
Beer Removal Fee.
Import Offset Charge.
Extra Charge
Charge Fee
Fee Charge
Sir Charge.
Dock Fee.
Holding Charge.

I hope I'm wrong Snakefarm but I imagine the dealers are having sugar plum fairies dancing in their heads about how many extra charges they can put on their inventory units. I bet they are hoping for lots of cancellations more than we are as we wait for OUR confirmations to come up!

Yes, the worst of them being the fee for a standard length warranty.
