Smartimes Magazine Printed Edition Coming April 2009

Hey Guys,

I don't know if anyone beat me to this but I couldn't find another post so I thought I'd put this up as I feel it's pretty exciting.

I just received an update from the Smartimes Magazine detailing the launch of their printed magazine for this April!

It has taken them a while to get everything in place but they have followed through with their original promise to make this happen which I think it great!

Here is a link to the original post:

They have also adjusted their subscription prices which I think is very fair and comparable to other magazines I buy.

James.

I didn't get a message even though I subscribe. I have never gotten a message even saying the new issue is ready. It needs to be color.

I bought SCOA membership so might as well get a smart magazine too. I have gone and ordered it. I thought the most expensive part was buying the car but all these extras are going to kill me.

Hey "faith in dc" I sent them an email when I received the update and they told me that the printed edition is going to be a High Quality Full Color Glossy Magazine just like you would expect from any of the big car magazines on the market.

Laying down $20 isn't bad for a quarterly, soon-to-be-bi-monthly glossy rag, but you really REALLLLY gotta be a smartie nerd to enjoy it for what it is. I'm a smartie nerd, but not THAT much of a smartie nerd!

Take a look at the upcoming articles (April) in the link below and see if you really want to spend the money for it. For my money, I'm not entirely interested in the 2008 Paris Motor Show or a story about going from London to Berlin. Most of it seems to be 99% Euro anyway so...

Instead, I plan to put my $$ down on mods that I want and also on becoming a full SCOA member soon, and all the articles and information I'll probably every need is right here!

The articles you referred to were in the fall electronic edition not the April edition that is being printed.

The Euro focus is primarily the result of that's where the submissions are coming from. If all of us here in the USA submit articles and photo's of our events we will see much more USA focus!

That is true, isn't it? After scratching my head and kicking the dirt in thought, I take it back! The magazine is a good idea after all! Maybe I can write about the trip I'm about to take up through the Napa Valley and submit it to them.

I encourage you to do it! They really want USA articles, I have spoken to them at length, submitted several articles and encouraged them 2 months ago to consider print and to adjust their subscription fees. So far they have been most accomodating. I think it's up to us. If we provide a lot of content I think they will support it.

I agree, it's a chicken and egg situation!

The smart car we love so much is from Europe and has been there since 1999 so it's only natural for the leading smart car magazine to be Euro dominant until now.

I feel that now is not the time to sit back and judge but a time to pave the way to the new future of smart in the USA and if you look at what our market here in the United States has achieved since launch it's actually quite spectacular and over shadows Europe in terms of excitement, events and after-market products.

Smartimes Magazine has always made it clear that they are unbiased with regards to geographic location and that it is a magazine by smart enthusiasts for smart enthusiasts.

So lets continue to lead the way and make this magazine our own because I for one would love to see more content from across the United States but we have to stand up and make it happen.
