We now know that the actual smartUSA operation is only 13 people, Dave-to-mailboy. They obviously have to outsource such things, like turning so much over to IB (and I'm betting that IB outsourced this themselves). Hopefully the "employee blog" is really the Magnificent Thirteen, and not more IB drones. Otherwise, it makes for more insulation.

I offer no commentary on the past or future efficiency or success of such outsourcing.

The fine print (TOS) etc. don't seem to legit smart HQ type of lingo. All refernces are to ning of Palo Alto, CA., ?????

I'd like to see some confirmation from someone that this is truly smart corporate sponsored.

If nothing else, to prove its legitness (is that a word? No...), the contact e-mail is insider@smartusa.com. I don't think you can hack the smartusa.com domain name.

It seems to focus on "social networking" (ie myspace-y) rather than informative and well-organized forums. I don't think it would replace this site, because it doesn't appear to do the same thing. But it's one more way for smart owners or fans to communicate, I guess...

from what it sounds like from the people who can get in is that the smartusa site is meant to be another place to socialize with other smart people not to try and take people away from this site.

Not if a public relations firm is over-seeing, managing it or steering it in an attempt to create a particular result that the client (smartusa) wants to achieve. Otherwise moderated with the clients goal in mind.
