So depressed ***! (Re: financing)

So ya I've been driving a new 2009 Smart Cabriolet since Tuesday and now Benz has denied my financing!!! I'm supposed to take it back tomorrow and get back in my 2003 Mustang GT gas guzzler! What type of freaking dealership gives you the keys takes $3K from you and denies ya! I had some negative equity in the Stang but whatever. I figure they'd call me the next day, not two days later after I have fallen in love with it. So they tell me my credit was good but I just wasn't making enough. The car is part of the whole plan to make more money because I have to drive 100 miles round trip for this new job I want to work at so I can make more money!!! So now they are going to run the figures and try and get me into a used 2009 cabriolet and I will put another $2K down and hopefully be able to get it. Is there any wealthy Smart owner who feels for me and wants to help a guy out? LOL Come on pay it forward!

So ya if anyone wants a new Smart after tomorrow and wants a good deal, the one I'm returning is going to have 500 miles of it already! I don't know how the take a car away from you after you been driving all over. They can't sell this as new come on! Had a sticker of $17,800! It will be going back to Smart Center of Tampa tomorrow! Details are: 2009, crystal white, with metallic silver tridion, cabriolet, comfort package, with tan interior.

Talk to your credit union! If you don't have one, get one!

Benz financing is not the only game around. Have a bank you use? Try them!

Oh - and belated Happy Birthday! (?)

Hey, you share the same bday as me, so happy late bday! . Mine was a christmas present.. I financed through the credit union I've been apart of since I was a kid.
That is a bit of a buzz kill though. Thinking you're getting the car, actually have the car, then being told you're denied and you have to return it! eek.

Are you sure you were denied and that you need to bring your Smart back? My first deal was denied, and I got a denial letter *after* I had my Smart at home for a couple days. What happened was, the first offer the dealer put through with a lower down-payment was denied, which triggered the denial letter even though we worked out a deal minutes after. I ended up just needing to put down a little more money, which I did.

Did someone actually call you to get the car back and get more money down? There's no way to keep the new Cab?

Good luck with it!

So sad, don't make me worry about it when I go to pick up mine in a week (hopefully). *bites nails*

W00T W00T!! I just have to make sure nobody takes that fully loaded passion off of the Loeber lot.

Hope things go right, you should barter for that new cabrio.

This is the fiirst time I have ever heard of something like that happening !!

I didn't even know something like this was possble. You made the deal, signed over your original car, signed THEIR contracts, then they have the "right" to basically say. "oh, nevermind" and you have to bring back the car ??

I was under the impression that once everything was signed, it was yours. You had to disclose what you earned, what your bills were, etc., when you filled out the paperwork. They knew before you left (unless you weren't honest in your figures and fudged some numbers).

Be that as it may, you drove that car for two days, it is no longer considered New and can not be sold that way. See if you can strike a deal on your "now-used" car and keep it !!

The bank made the same noise when I got my Pure, saying the car value wasn't there. This was when thy fist came out and the banks didn't have any information on Smart to make a good decision. I basicly told them how much I use their bank (I own a retail store) and how much buisness they would lose when I went down the street to a different bank. Suddenly there was no problem.

I have had credit card companies deny me cards and when I asked why, the suddenly changed their minds. I have since got rid of almost all my credit cards, they can get you in trouble faster than anything. Good luck on getting your finances turned around.( And of course the car too)

John H is correct... Don't give up! check the credit union or local financing company. You have more going for you than you think. i.e lower interest rate on a "Green" car.

Most of these finance companies are hurting really bad and will bend over back-wards to help you.... well, help themselves.
