Just got an orphan

a nicely loaded Passion Coupe for $18,250. Its all about what they have at the time. I also understand that they like to load up the orphans to make them more appealing for walkin buyers. I was lucky that I went in at 9am sharp when they opened, and we looked at different options. This one was just getting into the shop for the upgrades so I got to choose what I wanted. Now i'm stoked, and counting down the hours until work is over so I can go pick her up!

My suggestion: if you really want an orphan, then keep in contact with the sales person. If you build a good relationship by calling in the mornings on the weekends or whatever and give them a good idea that you are serious, then they will probably hold one for you once there is one that matches your taste and budget.

When I first discovered the Smart it was way over a year ago. Prior to Smart USA. I knew I could purchase a legal changed over Smart from Canada for 22K. I test drove one, and almost thought why not? I ended up going on line and doing the $99.00 program. I ordered my Passion loaded and it came in at 14,800.00 My dealer did not bump up trans fees. There was nothing to add to my little Bee (it's yellow) it was worth the wait and Keeler Motor Company are the best.
Now I say that to say this, as much as I love my Smart, as much fun as it is to drive. If I did not have my Smart now, and I wanted one, I would NEVER purchase an Orphan. I would sit down here at my PC and order mine. I know I would have to wait, but if I wait 3,4 5 months that extra 4,5 or 6 K is just too much for me to give away because I can't wait. My money is just too tight. Now if I never had to worry about money, sure I would burn it to get what I want, but I do have to worry and I can not afford to just throw it away.
Whatever decision you make I trust it is one you are happy with 6-8 months from now.
