So I guess I won't get my confirmation this year! I was told that I would receive my confirmation this year. What's next. Maybe I won't get a Smart till 2009? Let's hope 2008 is a better year for us and Smart than 2007. Here's hoping that Smart comes closer to keeping their promises in 2008!

You reserved at the end of October and you expected confirmation by the end of the year? Someone that knows nothing told you wrong, or you heard wrong. The confirmations right now are only up to May reservations...you have a long wait ahead.

SPDYII - I think we're looking to be contacted in Feb. But as I've said here many times. Stay in close touch with your dealer/salesman. Cars may come available in your area long before your order would arrive. It depends on how badly you want that perfect color/model/accessory combination. My salesman and I e-mail each other all the time. He knows my face and we keep each other informed of any recent developments.

I did not expect confirmation by the end of the year. "Someone that knows nothing told you wrong, or you heard wrong", is exactly right, it was smart USA. I was told in my reservation e-mail that I would receive it in 2007.

We all know NOW that was incorrect information. None of the above happened in 2007 for me. I haven't checked the smart USA web-site lately but I bet if you make a reservation today you would get basically the same e-mail I did in October. In my original post I was only making a New Years wish that smart USA will do better in 2008.

Not to be a knit picker here but I would read the "interim period" to be anytime prior to the end of the first quarter of 2008.

This may well have been done but the dealer may not have the info as of yet. Since we won't get our cars till late 2008, it's probably not a priority item on their list what with having to get all these dealerships launched ASAP. Just my two cents.

I would hold off on getting all spun up about your place in line; I'm also a late reservation holder like yourself. I've been reading the posts about reservation numbers for months and have seen nothing that leads me to believe that anyone really knows what is really going to happen after the launch in '08. Be patient, smart is keeping this information close while it is building a dealer network. Don’t let the gossiping “guess-ta-maters� get you down; we will all probably all have a much better understanding of the smart distribution system next month.

Well put. Even the dealers don't know jack at this point. Until they are hooked up with smart Connect on their PCs AND someone from HQ installs it and trains them, the dealers won't have a clue as to their allocations, buyer lists, P&Ps, etc. January 15th or so will be the beginning of the NEW YEAR in automobile marketing.

Get to know your salesman. That would be a good thing to do if you could figure out what dealership would be assigned to me. I guess after I get my confirmation I could do this but until that happen I just have to wonder where my smart will come from living equadistance from three probable dealers.
