So what do you think so far? Is Smart still the car for you?

Just a callout to Smartwaiters everywhere. As you know, we are starting to get some first hand experiences from the early adopters. Mostly good news but some not so much. Of course it is ALL good news to us because we get to wait to decide if a Smart is the car for us. So what do you think so far? Is Smart still the car for you?

Garage
well like anything else, there are some bugs, some people do not like the buying process, some people thought they would get better gas mileage, some people don't like some of the expenses.
So far I feel that i am benefiting from these first experiences, but i haven't heard anything that will scare me off.
Still waiting in so.jersey with #1235

The mileage could be better, but my foot could be lighter too.

This is the only automatic I drive so it feels like someone else is just shifting the manual for me.

It's #4 in the garage so it doesn't have to be the best at everything to be a keeper.

Don't care what they say about the smartie. It's the car for me. Waiting 7 years for him to come here. Still waiting for my greying bee.

Nothing out there compares!

I still want mine....no doubt! It's an absolute bargain. It's very cool. It's fun! All the new owners love it. I still can't wait for my little Pure Panda! ____ __ _____

Still onboard, gotta admit last week I was thinking maybe a Fit but than I come back to the smart, I want as much garage space as I can get so I can have some shop space left with all 3 cars in it.

I'm still on the fence. I used to own a Scion xA RS 1.0 and after 2 years I traded it in on my wife's CX-7. I commute about 20K miles a year to and from work and I got tired of the choppy ride, stiff suspension, sensitivity to cross winds, and no cruise control. From what I've read, the smart has all of those issues as well.

I, too, kept worrying about the crosswinds issue, and the tracking in ruts issue, and the reliability issues, and the "not as good fuel mileage as we'd all hoped" issue, and all of that. Kept considering a Honda Fit, and even the Hyundai Accent hatchback... none make me even half as excited as the smart. Plus, none will free up as much garage space for my future motorcycle replacements. smart it is. for me. for you?

I've thought about getting a civic in December while I was waiting for my smart. But after the dealership insulted me by saying that I gave the the dumbest offer of the year I walked out and got my smart. I was basically saving them time by telling them I would pay X dollar a month and no more. They came back with a first offer of $650 a month for 60 months for a civic! Anyway, long story short, I wouldn't budge and got them all pissed off. But I got the last laugh.

So, I have it for almost 3 weeks and am loving every miles of it.

Ok, I've experienced heavy winds & blinding snow flurries which ended up being a scarey situation but I made it home safely. Yesterday I experienced a cold start at 19 degrees and the smartie did just fine. However, it's funny but the radio didn't come on until the car got warm. Also, although I am happy I have heated leather seats, I think the sensor is on way too high because less than 5 mins later I felt like I was burning my arse off so I turned it off. It needs a high/low setting for sure like my Acura TL. Other than these few things, all is well and I'm still happy I bought my cabrio. Next up, going to the gas station because I'm on my last blob. It doesn't matter to me that I'm not getting 33/43but I love the idea of filling up only once in a 2-3 week period instead of every weekend. Right now I think I have 251 miles on it but I'll be sure to check it and flip the tripometer to zero so I can track the next gas up against miles per gallon. Thanks
