Have owned my Smart Car for five days now and absolutely love it! My SRT8 should be gone in about a week and I will have no regrets making the Smart my only car. The Smart Car has exceeded all expectations I had in terms of overall drivability (acceleration, suspension, comfort) and it has totally surprised me with its abilities on the freeway. I love this car!!!

MPG third best for a gas engine according to my SMART guy

Went for a test drive last w/e. The guy from PDX Smart said that the posted Mpg figs were the more truthful ones now required by our "green and environmentally conscious government". (my inference, not his)

He made the point that when considering gas using cars, the SMART mpg is third in line after two hybrids. Am not a techie so can't confirm that.

Smart MPG

I've had mine for 2 weeks now. Waited 10 years to own one! I still LOVE it!! I love the attention it gets too. All my cars are special purpose, none HAVING to be used daily, so I can just drive my Smart when the roads are good. I have almost 500 miles on her now and got 42mpg last time I got gas.

the only thing I'd say was a negative was the weight limit in the cargo area, can't fill it up with horse grain! but que cera, that's what the truck is for!!

1st tank 75% highway = 43mpg.
2nd tank all short town trips with lots of screwing around = 31mpg.
So far I have less than 400 miles - I expect it to improve when it's broken in.

Also was on the freeway a couple of days ago at 70mph and 25-30mph wind - it moved around but not enough to rate as scary - it just required your attention.

Today was a sheet of ice - without snow/ice tires it was sliding around, again not enough to rate as scary.

Originally I had figured I'd sell it and make a little profit but I'm keeping it. It's fun and I can fit 4 cars in a 3 car garage.

Your smart is the only car sold in the USA in its class. It gets the best milage of any pure gas engine vehicle sold new in the USA. Just happens to be a lot of fun as well. Look at all the pictures they make you smile

Yes I am still happy

I was unsure of buying the car as it would be one of several I own. I did not really decide until I got to go on an extended test drive. The main reason I am happy is that I only paid $14.8K.....and yet the car does not make me feel like I "cheaped out" and bought some economy car. Fun to drive with touches that other sub-compact cars don't match. And it is different. My theory is that a car should be fun to own!!!!!

If everyone who picks up their Smart just forgets about all the waiting, the lack of information from Smart USA, the clueless sales people, the overpriced warrenties, and bloated doc fees then you are all just inviting Smart and its dealers to raise prices and fees. Not to mention, why should they improve their service when everyone is so happy no matter how bad they treat us.

After 3 weeks, 1000 miles, 5 tankfuls of gas it's a brilliant car and a lot of fun to drive.
