I use RaggTopp canvas cleaner with a soft bristle brush. Sometimes I just use a microfiber cloth with the cleaner. I pre-rinse to remove any debris. Apply the cleaner liberally and scrub lightly. Rinse off all of the soap. Finally, let air dry for 24 hours. A couple of times, usually at the beginning if the warm months, I will seal with RaggTopp waterproofer, again before winter. There has been many a comment regarding the effectiveness of the waterproofing. It appears that it doesn't seem to bead the water when drenched. Right from the factory it did not bead up under heavy rain. But, a light misting left it beading as if it were waxed. Again I applied the RaggTopp twice with same results as factory new. Apparently there is a rubber backing to prevent leaking and the fabric needs to breathe. I applied it not only to keep up with the waterproofing, but also for UV protection against fading. That's my take on the subject.
